How it works
From the registration to the Certificate of Destruction
Six steps, usually inside twenty-four hours. Nothing here is unusual — but plenty of firms skip parts of it, and it is worth knowing what a proper job looks like before you hand a car to anybody.

You send the registration
Registration and postcode is all we ask for to begin with. We do not want your phone number before we have told you anything useful — that is a lead-broker habit, not a yard's.
The postcode does two jobs: it works out the collection run from the yard, and it tells us straight away whether you are inside the area we cover.

We ask about the condition
Six short questions: does it start, are the wheels on, is the catalytic converter still fitted, have you got the V5C, has it been written off, and where is it parked.
These are the things that actually change what a car is worth and what truck we need to send. Answer them honestly and the price we give you is the price you get.

A person prices it and rings you
Not an algorithm. Somebody at the yard looks at what you have told us and comes back with a firm figure, normally within the hour during opening times.
You get it in writing by email as well, so there is no argument later about what was agreed.

We collect, free
From your drive, the roadside, a garage forecourt or a lock-up. Non-runners are normal and cost you nothing extra.
Have photo ID and proof of address ready. We are required to check them under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act — every legitimate yard in the country will ask.

You are paid before it moves
The bank transfer goes out while the driver is stood with you. Faster Payments normally clear in well under a minute, so you can watch it land before the car goes up on the truck.
Cash is not an option, for us or anyone else. It has been illegal for scrap metal since 2013.

The paperwork gets done
Your Certificate of Destruction is filed electronically with DVLA and a copy comes to you by email. That is the document that ends your responsibility for the vehicle.
Notify DVLA yourself as well. It takes two minutes online, it is free, and it means you are not relying only on somebody else's admin.

- Photo ID — driving licence or passport
- Proof of address — a utility bill or bank statement
- The V5C logbook, if you have it
- Your account number and sort code
- Both sets of keys, if you can find them
