How we quote, collect and pay

These terms apply when Brakeyard Auto Parts UK Ltd, company number 16156500, registered at Bargate Yard, Bargate, Linthwaite, Huddersfield, HD7 5QW, quotes for or collects a vehicle from you.

Quotes

A quote is based entirely on the information you give us about the vehicle. It is valid for seven days and assumes the vehicle is complete — engine, gearbox, wheels and catalytic converter present — unless you have told us otherwise.

If the vehicle differs materially from what was described, our driver will discuss it with you before anything is loaded. You are free to decline and keep the vehicle at that point, at no cost to you.

Your right to sell

By asking us to collect a vehicle you confirm that you are the registered keeper or have the keeper's authority to dispose of it, and that it is free of finance, hire purchase or any other third-party interest.

Identification

We are required by the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 to verify your identity and address before completing a transaction. We cannot collect a vehicle without seeing photo identification and proof of address.

Payment

Payment is made by electronic bank transfer before the vehicle is loaded. We cannot pay in cash: cash payment for scrap metal, including end-of-life vehicles, is prohibited by the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013.

Collection

Collection is free within the areas we cover. You are responsible for removing your belongings and any personal data from the vehicle, including from any built-in navigation or infotainment system, and for removing the registration plates if you intend to retain the registration. We cannot return items left in a vehicle once it has been processed.

Certificate of Destruction

Where the vehicle is destroyed, a Certificate of Destruction is issued and DVLA is notified electronically. We recommend you also notify DVLA yourself.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
