MOT failures
The commonest thing through the gate. Failed on corrosion, emissions, a structural advisory that has finally caught up with it — and the bill is more than the car is worth. There is no point spending £900 on a car worth £600.
What we take
We do not cherry-pick the easy ones. Most of what comes through the gate is awkward in some way, and that is fine — it is the job.
The main ones
Because the questions are different. Somebody whose van has died has nothing in common with somebody sat on a Category S settlement.
A vehicle dismantler, not a metal merchant. Parts come off before anything is crushed, which is why a complete car is worth more here than at a weighbridge.

Will not start, will not turn over, seized after standing all winter, head gasket gone. It makes no difference to whether we take it, only to which truck we bring. Tell us whether the wheels still turn.
Front-end damage, side impact, rolled. Whether or not an insurer has been involved, we will take it. If it has been assessed and given a category, tell us which one.
Category A, B, S and N all accepted. A and B legally cannot go back on the road and must be destroyed; S and N can be repaired but often are not worth it. We handle all four correctly.
Transit, Sprinter, Vivaro, Combo, Hilux, Ranger. Heavier vehicles are worth more. If you are a trade customer clearing more than one, ring the yard and we will price the batch.
Freelander, Discovery, RAV4, X-Trail, Qashqai. Same story — more weight, more to recover, better money than a supermini.
No wheels, no engine, no catalytic converter, stripped for parts already. Still worth taking. It affects the figure, which is exactly why we ask before quoting rather than after.
Burnt-out shells and flood-damaged cars both need careful handling — flood cars in particular carry contaminated fluids. We are set up for it. Say so when you ring.
Not sure which of these your car is? Send us the registration and describe it in your own words in the notes box. We would rather read a plain description than have you guess at a category.
Straight answers
Very little. What we cannot do is take a vehicle from someone who is not the registered keeper and cannot show authority to sell it. If you are dealing with an estate, a repossession or a car abandoned on your land, ring us and we will talk it through.
Ring the yard and ask. It depends on what it is and what condition it is in, and it is a quicker conversation on the phone than through a form.
Not straight away. There is a legal process for abandoned vehicles on private land and it has to be followed. Give us a call and we will tell you what is involved.
Give us the registration. We'll tell you what it's worth and, if you're happy, have it gone tomorrow.
