What we do with your details

This notice explains what Brakeyard Auto Parts UK Ltd (“we”) does with the personal information you give us. We are the data controller. You can reach us at admin@brakeyardscrap.co.uk or 07424 407683, or write to us at Bargate Yard, Bargate, Linthwaite, Huddersfield, HD7 5QW.

What we collect

When you ask for a quote we collect your name, phone number, email address, the vehicle registration and the collection postcode, along with whatever you tell us about the condition of the car. If we go on to collect the vehicle, we also record the identification and proof of address we are required to check, and the bank details needed to pay you.

Why we hold it, and on what basis

• To answer your enquiry and give you a price — because you asked us to, and because it is in our legitimate interest to respond to enquiries.
• To carry out the collection and pay you — performance of a contract.
• To verify your identity and keep the records the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 requires, and to notify DVLA that the vehicle has been destroyed — a legal obligation.

Who sees it

Nobody outside the business, other than where the law requires. We are not a lead broker: we do not sell, rent or pass on enquiry details to other scrap firms, comparison sites or marketers. Our email provider processes messages on our behalf, and DVLA receives the notification of destruction.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to a collection are deleted within twelve months. Records relating to vehicles we have collected are kept for at least three years, as required by scrap metal dealer record-keeping rules, and financial records for six years for tax purposes.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Email admin@brakeyardscrap.co.uk and we will respond within one month. If you are not happy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

This site sets no advertising cookies and no tracking cookies. There is no advertising network, no social media pixel and no third-party script watching what you do here.

If you have been shown a cookie banner, it is asking about analytics — counting visits and which pages get read. Those are not set unless you actively choose to accept them. Refusing costs you nothing: the site works identically either way, and we do not ask again on every visit.

The one thing we store without asking is your answer to that question, kept in your browser so we do not have to keep asking. It is never sent to us and it identifies nobody. You can change your mind whenever you like using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of any page.
